Lyrics: It's hard to listen to a hard hard heart Beating close to mine Pounding up against the stone and steel Walls that I won't climb Sometimes a hurt is so deep deep deep You think that you're gonna drown Sometimes all I can do is weep weep weep With all this rain falling down Strange how hard it rains now Rows and rows of big dark clouds When I'm holding on underneath this shroud Rain Its hard to know when to give up the fight Some things you want will just never be right Its never rained like it has to night before Now I don't want to beg you baby For something maybe you could never give I'm not looking for the rest of your life I just want another chance to live Strange how hard it rains now Rows and rows of big dark clouds When I'm holding on underneath this shroud Rain It's taken some time But I haven't stopped fighting It's hard to describe A whole decade of trying But I've still got that fire And it's yet to steer me wrong So for now I'll believe Maybe I'm right where I belong Strange how hard it rains now Rows and rows of big dark clouds When I'm still alive underneath this shroud Rain Rain Rain

about

A 10 year celebration of releasing music, Rain (Dead of Winter Reprise) merges Patty Griffin's, "Rain," with a special reprise of "Dead of Winter," one of the first tracks released on Katie Pederson's Happimess EP in 2013.

In an often male dominated music industry where at times it can feel as though women are “aged out,” by the time they hit 30, Pederson says of the track: “Rain is the first song off of Patty Griffin’s album, 1,000 Kisses, which she released when she was 38. She’s had countless releases & writer’s credits in the decades following. This was so inspiring for me as a thirty something woman in the industry."
